April 9, 2012 - Meguro River at night

Hmm, rather behind, aren't I?  My mom blames it on the fact that I post stuff on Facebook, too.  She might have a point.  Although I'm sure our readers are now down to just the grandparents, since this is the record of our time in Japan, we can't just stop writing or we'll forget what happened.

So here we go:

After visiting the Meguro River on April 5, I wanted to go back with Drew and the kids.  I thought it would be nice to see the lanterns illuminated at night, so we decided to go Monday evening after Drew finished with work.  He was supposed to leave work a little early, but (surprise, surprise) wasn't able to do that.  However, it still worked out fine.  The kids did their homework and ate an early dinner, and then we left to meet up with Drew at Shibuya station.

We followed the path I took when I did the tour a few days previously.  As we started out from  Ikejiriohashi station, the first part of the river was quiet.  All of us took a bunch of pictures, and Greer and I pared them down to six.  Our iPhones are not the best cameras for taking pictures at night, but we still had several we liked.  As we neared the shops and cafes, it became a lot busier and took on the air of a street festival.  Drew got some dinner at one of the food stands, and the kids and I checked out some of the treats.
